Venezuelan Ambassador Jorge Valero, Venezuela’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, gave details on how the United States’ attempt to obtain a conviction at the Human Rights Council against the southamerican country was defeated.
“The US government set foot on the accelerator in order to get the Human Rights Council to approve a statement or a resolution against the government of Nicolás Maduro Moros, but left with the tables in the head,” said the diplomat.
He added that the State Department deployed all its diplomatic potential behind that goal, without thinking that that attempt “would collapse headlong.”
Valero offered firsthand details of the pretensions of the United States.
Valero said that when the empire launched the idea, it used the delegation of Paraguay, which has been acting as the fifth column of the US government, to distribute a Verbal Note, on June 1, requesting support from the countries that make up the Human Rights Council, for a “joint declaration” condemning the Bolivarian Government.
Such a statement repeated the unfounded accusations that the empire and its acolytes in the region have been throwing against the Bolivarian Revolution, trying to abort the democratic process and humanist that unfolds in Venezuela.
“The American empire mobilized its diplomatic corps, trying to gather support for its condemnation of Venezuela, both in the OAS and in UN-Geneva. They failed in the attempt (…) The only joint statement read in Geneva, signed by 57 countries, was in support of Venezuela, “he recalled.
He added: “For the first time in the history of the Human Rights Council, the US government organized a side event at the UN headquarters to attack a sovereign country such as Venezuela.”
He said that this event was scheduled as part of a visit to Geneva by Ambassador Nikki Haley, permanent representative of the United States at the UN New York, leaving aside the permanent representative of the United States in Geneva.
“The United States government wanted to make its protagonism explicit and visible in its desperate purpose of delegitimizing participatory and protagonist democracy in Venezuela,” he said.
He further commented: “I wanted a high-level spokesperson for his government (since Ambassador Haley attends ministerial cabinet meetings and is one of the main spokesmen for US foreign policy), made it clear that The empire is willing to use all its power to attack Venezuela. ”
During his visit to Geneva, Haley delivered a speech at the Human Rights Council demanding that a resolution be adopted against Venezuela, and he complained of his displeasure, given that this Council has approved 5 resolutions against Israel, the power Occupant of Palestine, and none against Venezuela.
He asked that Venezuela be excluded as a member of the Human Rights Council, as had been done in due course with the Libyan government, prior to the genocidal invasion of that Arab country.
The American ambassador also gave a lecture at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, where she launched her artillery against Venezuela.
It is worth remembering that Paraguay was the country that lent itself to request support for a joint declaration that was read at the 33rd session of the Human Rights Council, held in September last year.
At that time little support came from the US government, and Venezuela, on the other hand, gained wide support for its declaration.
Now, at the 35th session of the Human Rights Council, the United States (Paraguay), for their joint declaration, did not obtain support, chose to withdraw the project and read it on behalf of Paraguay, that is, they remained “alone, Alone “.
The Bolivarian Revolution, on the other hand, had the solidarity support of countries of different geographic spaces of the world, including China and Russia, which have seats in the UN Security Council, as well as other nations with a great influence in international politics Such as South Africa, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, etc.
This important group of nations expressed their support for the Constitutional Government of Venezuela in its commitment to preserve peace and maintain democratic institutions in the country, called on all states to respect the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and endorsed the repeated convocation That President Nicolás Maduro Moros has made to the political dialogue between the different sectors that make national life.
By the way, the permanent ambassador of Nicaragua, Hernán Estrada, read a statement from the Countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) that act on the Human Rights Council in support of Venezuela.
This declaration denounced that Venezuela is the object of a media campaign of smear, without precedents; Condemned the “serious indications” of an interventionist plan against him, and called on the governments and peoples of the world to provide solidarity support to Venezuela, its people and its legitimate government.
And to make matters worse, this June 21, at the Human Rights Council, it happened that the empire was “turned over the tortilla”, since instead of being condemned the government of Venezuela, as it intended, the Bolivarian Revolution and its President Nicolás Maduro, received, rather, a massive support.
